Spencer is the only child of comedian/actor Kelsey Grammer and dance instructor Doreen Alderman. She is Grammer’s oldest child, and has three younger siblings: two half-sisters and a half-brother.

Spencer was introduced to acting at a young age, appearing on her father’s television show Cheers when she was just a child. In more recent years, Spencer joined the cast of the long-running daytime soap opera As The World Turns as medical intern Lucy Montgomery. She played the role for just over six months before exiting on December 14, 2006 to pursue the role of Casey Cartwright on the hit television show Greek.

Also in her career, Spencer has made appearances on popular shows such as Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and Third Watch, and has appeared in a few independent movies such as 2006’s The Path of Most Resistance. Spencer has also been featured in commercials for MTV and Kodak.

Spencer married James Hesketh on February 11, 2011 and gave birth to their first son, Emmett Emmanual Hesketh on October 10.
